Drop by the JBFC Media Arts Lab between on the first Saturday of select months (November, Dec., March & April) for our Family Saturdays @ the Lab program!

Each month’s event features three FREE, hands-on media activities for students. With the help of our faculty and staff, media-makers of all ages can explore, discover, and create amazing projects. We offer a wide variety of activities, from animation and sound editing to live green-screening and group storytelling projects!

Please note: This event is FREE and open to the public. No registration is necessary – just sign in when you arrive, and remember to bring your JBFC Kids stamp card! Hike the McKeon Loop trail and learn all about this fascinating bird that is so prevalent this time of year. Find out about the turkey’s natural history and amazing adaptations.

 

Founded in 1959, the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is a premier nature center with a focus on Environmental Education with a mission to develop responsible caretakers of the environment. Over the years it has developed quality educational programs for students and the public that focus on the unique ecology of the Hudson Highlands and promote knowledge and appreciation of our natural world.  The Museum is home to Grasshopper Grove, the Hudson Valley’s first Nature Play area. The Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center and Grasshopper Grove are located in Cornwall, New York and the Wildlife Education Center in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York.

NEW PALTZ- Adventures in Art @ Story Studio

Brush up on your art culture in this literacy-based art class!  ​​​
First we read together, then learn about an artist
and/or technique, and finish up by using that technique to create
our own unique artwork based on the book we read!
8 SATURDAYS starting September 29, 2018

For ages 2-5
  • ​​​​​​Full 8-class session – $195/child​​
  • Half-time (first 4 classes of session only) – $120/child ​
  • Single class – $35/child (must contact us ahead of time to schedule)

Story Studio is a quality children’s program dedicated to providing families with an opportunity to expand upon their reading experiences by becoming part of the literature.  We utilize both art and cooking as vehicles through which to immerse ourselves further into the stories we read.

Celebrate your child’s school year with these fun evening events for the whole family!  Families will explore the Museum after hours, engage with special activity stations, and participate in a fun, hands-on science workshop.  All that … with pizza dinner, too!

OCTOBER THEME:  Helicopters!  Build a helicopter toy that flies 50 feet into the air!

NOVEMBER THEME:  Electric Birthday Cards!  Use copper tape and special lights to build the circuitry in a light up greeting card.
