Fall 2018 Creators’ Co-op Program

Production: Narrative
Learn the step-by-step process of film production in this collaborative workshop! You will be handed a script and learn how to bring one scene from pre-production to post-production – from learning how to make a shot list and storyboard to scouting and securing locations to exploring the roles of directors, cinematographers, lighting, sound, and crew on set. You’ll also edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, working towards a completed scene.

In Creators’ Co-op, high school students deepen their craft by collaboratively producing original projects as members of a production crew, attending workshops on specific aspects of filmmaking, and taking advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. With individualized mentorship and the support of a peer network, the Creators’ Co-op community offers a dynamic experience for every student.

Experiments in Animation, Gr. 3-8

Four-week workshops are a phenomenal introduction to the creative world of visual storytelling. Bring your imagination, and get ready to play and experiment with hands-on media-making. Students focus on short projects as they are introduced to the collaborative process and also explore independently. Explore our other Experiments workshops: VideoSound, and Gaming.

Experiments in Animation: Stop Motion
Use cut paper and mixed media to bring your characters to life with Dragonframe stop-motion software. As you learn the fundamentals of stop-motion animation, learn to add sound to your animated creations using Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Bend—or completely ignore—the laws of physics when animating anything you can imagine.

Crew
Same name, different experience! The new Crew experience is a semester-long course that provides a structure where your original scripts, ideas, and concepts can come to fruition. Crew balances independent work with a supportive class environment and provides opportunities for both leading and supporting. You’ll have full access to the Lab’s camera, lighting, and sound equipment. This is the perfect place to gain valuable experience, build your film reel, or work on senior projects. Designed for students with prior film-making experience.

– Weeks 14: Instruction. Classes and practice in script development and pre-production.

– Weeks 58: Production. Course meetings include screening dailies, further script refinement, and production support.

– Weeks 912: Editing. Rough cut screenings, feedback, and post-production supervision.
